Who is at the heart of Kind Hearts?

Kathleen Cunningham began Kind Hearts at Mortimer Community College to promote acts of kindness to others, ourselves and the environment. Inspired by HH Ravi Shankar, founder of The International Association of Human Values, Kind Hearts is grounded in the beliefs that:

  1. Every child has the right to be safe, healthy, enjoy and achieve and to be able to participate fully in the world around them whatever their background or circumstances
  2. If we want to change the world and live in a one full of love and kindness, we need to change the beliefs, the ideas, and the consciousness of as many people as possible.

With the support of South Tyneside Council, Mortimer Community College pioneered the project and everyone involved, young people, youth support services, and businessmen, started paying attention to looking after others and themselves. The kindness had a ripple effect that spread to other schools in the region and on 13th November, we will join together to launch World Kindness Day. The day will be spent doing acts of kindness and hopefully inspiring others to do the same. Join us – we DARE you!
